Bak Kwa

I had a short walk around Chinatown and you could see the bustle of activity as Chinese New Year is approaching. Tentages have been set up to sell New Year decorations, tid bits, etc etc.

One item not to be missed for the season is 'Bak Kwa'. It smells irresitably yummy when you approach it. They BBQ it on the spot, and you can eat it on its own, or eat it together with bread (like a sandwich). It can range from $33 to $42 per kg, depending on the season. In the coming weeks, the price will increase as New Year approaches.

Mmm...we already ordered ours to make sure we avoid the queues that form when you NEED to buy it near New Year dates...Phew!

For those overseas, you can 'lick' and savour the picture here.

What about sniffing it online - it'd be great if the internet of the future offers smells as well!
